ParisProgress.org tracks the implementation of the Paris Agreement, specifically in terms of the overall science-based targets of reducing emissions to allow for a maximum 1.5ºC global average surface temperature rise by mid-century. The methodology is simple: provide readers with an index of major platforms for implementation, so that these platforms can be seen in one place achieving visible progress.

To provide added context, we are launching a special section called Signals, which will highlight major market trends, climate impacts, and resilience issues, that indicate the shape and speed of the global economic transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient practices.

The preliminary findings for the Signals section of Paris Progress will focus on:

• The State and Trends of Carbon Pricing (Dashboard / CPLC)
• New and emerging climate-smart finance in all sectors
• Major climate impacts, including storms, droughts, and related costs
• Need for and breakthroughs in climate-resilient infrastructure
• Major commitments to and achievements in low-carbon energy
• Zero carbon leadership stories
• Local / citizen leadership on the SDGs in relation to climate
• Cross-border policy-making involving non-national jurisdictions (cities, states, regions, and transnational political blocs)

This page will “float to the top” of the ParisProgress.org site, as will all of the implementation platform pages, whenever there is news to share on one or more of these topics.

Over the long term, in line with the participatory process and intended outcomes of the Citizens’ Climate Engagement Network, Paris Progress Signals will aim to provide a coherent, comprehensive measure of Paris Agreement implementation, according to the ACCESS standard, developed during the COP21 in 2015.
